Shadow

Earlier...

I left Leandra in the room with Hulk and made my way out of the back of the building. Using the cover of night, I made my way to the military blockades. I waited until the guards were distracted, and I quietly hopped over the wall. I screwed on my pistol silencer and made my way down the road as quiet as possible. The further I got from the blockade the more infected I started to see. Near the wall they had a patrol that rode by every so often. The infected moved slowly but they were grouped together making them dangerous. If you were to get surrounded by them, you would surely be a goner. I used my map to navigate to the neighborhood I knew Leandra's sister lived in. I kept a jogging pace the entire time trying to cover as much ground as fast as possible. If I was going to get there and back before the sun came up, I needed to move. I made it to the street they lived on, and it was infested with infected walking around in circles and groaning. I looked at the blue house Leandra had shown me pictures of, and it didn't look like anyone was inside. I decided I needed a distraction to draw them out so I could safely get to the house. I ran down the block and found an abandoned car. I searched it and found an oily rag. I popped my head up and shot two infected people walking towards me. I started searching the car for anything I could use to light the rag. I was frantic as more infected people started to notice me. I found a box of matches and hopped out of the car. I opened the gas tank of the car, before shooting another three infected. I stuffed the rag in and opened the box of matches. I only had two shots. So, I said a quick prayer and struck the first one. It lit and I covered the flame quickly so it wouldn't blow out. I put the flame to the rag and watched it go up. I ran away and a minute later I heard the explosion, and the car went up in a ball of flames. I ran around to the backside of the street, and I could see the infected clearing out. They were all walking in the direction of the explosion. So, noise drew them in. Good to know. I made my way to the back of the house and knocked off the doorknob with the butt of my pistol. I quietly crept into the dark house. I used my flashlight to light the hallway. I was slowly creeping towards the living room when the closet door next to me swung open. I ducked just in time to miss the frying pan that was being swung at my head. I tackled the woman swinging it and we fell to the ground as she dropped it.
